*With the first gentlespoon leading, ones pass the second gentlespoon by the left and the second ladle by the right. Twos pass left while the ones turn alone. In doing so, the ones switch roles. Gentlespoons (the original second gentlespoon and first ladle) then pass right in the center to find their other neighbor.
Ones switch roles every time through the dance; twos keep theirs all the way up the hall. During the balance, twos can help their neighbors by verbally or nonverbally reminding them of their role and which hold to take in the swing.
