March for Andrea

by: Isaac Banner

introduces moves: down the hall, up the hall, roll away, give & take

formation: Becket

Andrea Nettleton told me she wished callers would do more down the halls, but all the ones in my box were pretty basic and I wanted something that used it as less of an "away we go" and more of a buildup.

A1 8
gentlespoons allemande left 1½
8
neighbors swing and end facing down
A2 8
down the hall and turn alone
8
up the hall and bend into a ring

Robin Shall Restore Amends

by: Isaac Banner

introduces moves: box circulate, Rory O'More, pass through

formation: improper

A dance re-imagining of A Midsummer Night's Dream, written for Rosalie Banner on her 20th birthday. "Give me your hands [four], may we be friends, and Robin shall restore amends."

A1 8
balance & petronella to long waves, gentlespoons face out
8
balance & box circulate - ladles cross while gentlespoons loop right
A2 8
balance & box circulate - gentlespoons cross while ladles loop right
8
balance & Rory O'More right
B1 16
partners long swing
B2 8
circle left 3 places
4
balance the ring
4
pass through ⁋

When teaching this one I make a point of identifying who is chasing whom in the box circulate, otherwise dancers will often find themselves a bit lost when they circulate away from their partner.

Trip to Mountain City

by: Isaac Banner

introduces moves: slice, promenade

formation: Becket

A1 4
slice left ⁋
4
gentlespoons take neighbors
8

A2 8

8
star left 3 places with new neighbors
B1 8
partners promenade
8
ladles start a half hey - rights in center, lefts on ends
B2 16
partners balance & swing

Be sure to ID new neighbors during the long lines.

Needs a fast tune, otherwise people reach the B2 with 4 beats to spare. Either ask the band to play something at 120 or tell the dancers to enjoy a nice, slow star.

Lanny's Back

by: Erik Weberg

4
balance the ring
4

B2 8
balance & petronella
4

4

While the A section is pretty variable and the B section, with its iconic swaps across the ring, is what identifies any "Lanny's" dance, I believe this is the original version of the dance. At the very least, it's the version I last heard Erik call.
