G Campbell Kaynor notes: For a simple proper dance I do one called Jefferson and Liberty to the tune of the same name (Thos Jefferson's campaign song, a.k.a the Gobby O, an American Irish Jig)

It doesn't matter if people get on the wrong side of the set so I often start the night with this if there are lots of newcomers

by: Moose Flores

formation: improper

Designate 1's and 2's
Encourage tight formations in A1 to complete it fully in 16 beats.
Colonnade is a new sequence. It takes 16 beats and ends with everyone where they began, like a Hey. Have 2's also practice the colonnade during the walkthrough.

  • Colonnade: ones (join right hands to) make an arch and hold that arch for the entire figure. Gentlespoons trade by right shoulders with gentlespoon two going under the arch. Ladles trade by right shoulders with ladle two going under the arch. [stop here for 1/2 colonnade] Gentlespoons trade by right, ladles trade by right. Each trade has 4 beats of music, so there's no need to rush.
