Bradley Smith Notes: Originally, the last figure of this dance was a neighbor do-si-do 1 1/2, but I usually swap it for the ring balance and pass through to make the progression as simple as possible for inexperienced dancers.

Author's Notes:
This dance started out as a variation of Jubilation by Gene Hubert in which the partner allemande is replaced by a swing and the gentlespoons start the hey. This gives the same swing / 1/2 hey / swing sequence as in Diagonal Discovery, also by Gene Hubert. The dance is further modified by replacing the gentlespoons allemande left 1+1/2 and long lines with circle left 3/4 and right and left through, which moves the middle of the dance to the opposite side of the set.

While the A section is pretty variable and the B section, with its iconic swaps across the ring, is what identifies any "Lanny's" dance, I believe this is the original version of the dance. At the very least, it's the version I last heard Erik call.

introduces moves: custom
formation: Becket
A1 | 8 | circle left 3 places and step into a wave
|
4 | balance short waves
| |
2 | pass through ⁋
| |
2 | neighbors allemande right ½
| |
A2 | 8 | gentlespoons allemande left once

Ladles pass straight past their partner out of the revolving door, rather than weaving around them. Otherwise the gentlespoons feel like they're getting jerked back over their shoulder and it's pretty inelegant.

introduces moves: box circulate, Rory O'More
formation: improper
A dance re-imagining of A Midsummer Night's Dream, written for Rosalie Banner on her 20th birthday. "Give me your hands [four], may we be friends, and Robin shall restore amends."
A1 | 8 | balance & petronella to long waves, gentlespoons face out
|
8 | balance & box circulate - ladles cross while gentlespoons loop right
| |
A2 | 8 | balance & box circulate - gentlespoons cross while ladles loop right
|
8 | balance & Rory O'More right
| |
B1 | 16 | partners long swing
|
B2 | 8 | circle left 3 places
|
4 | balance the ring
| |
4 | pass through ⁋
|
When teaching this one I make a point of identifying who is chasing whom in the box circulate, otherwise dancers will often find themselves a bit lost when they circulate away from their partner.
